Ruwenzori Mountains

The Ruwenzori Mountains in the southwest of Uganda, on the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are often covered in mist. The Ruwenzori Mountains are excellent for trekking, but it often rains in the area, so be prepared and bring warm, waterproof clothes. The higher mountains are permanently covered with snow and glaciers. They include Mt Speke (4889 m), Mt Baker (4842 m), Mt Gessi (4797 m), Mt Emin (4791 m), Mt Luigi di Savoia (4626 m) and Uganda's highest peak of Margherita on Mount Stanley (5110 m). Some of the mountains, like Mount Speke, are fairly easy to climb, but others require experience and specialized equipment.
