'Abhā, or Abha, is not far from the Asir National Park's visitors' center. Because it sits at an altitude of 2,270 m (7,450 ft) above sea level, 'Abhā has a refreshing climate and it is a popular weekend resort. Most people come to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery and especially during the summer it gets very busy. A cable car brings you up into the nearby mountain of Sawdah.
'Abhā's main sight is the Shada Palace, which was built in 1927. In 1987 it was converted into a museum. The exhibits include regional handicrafts, household goods and several restored rooms. There are also several hilltop fortresses in 'Abhā. The 'Abhā Great Mosque is also worth a visit. Art Street is lined with jacranda trees.
The Rabou Al-Yazeed market is a bustling place where you can buy a wide variety of goods. Lake Sadd is a popular destination for locals. Next to it is a funpark.
There are numerous hotels and restaurants in 'Abhā, including the iconic 'Abhā Palace Hotel and the Al-Tahy restaurant. The city is in the Asir Mountains, 830 km southwest of Riyadh.
