Abbottabad (ایبٹ آباد)

Abbottabad (ایبٹ آباد)

Abbottabad was founded in 1853 by General Sir James Abbott, who was an English military officer. The city was named after him.

There is little of interest to travellers in Abbottabad, but there are several hotels and numerous restaurants.

The city gained notoriety in 2011, when terrorist Osama Bin Laden found to be hiding there and was subsequently killed.

Abbottabad is located 193 km (120 mi) east from Peshawar and 122 km (75 mi) north from Islamabad.
