Albina

Albina

Albina is a town on the eastern bank of the Marowijne (Maroni) River. French Guiana is on the other bank. The town is somewhat run down, but it is a good place to stay if you want to visit the Galibi Nature Reserve, where green and leatherback turtles can be seen. The Carib Indians who live in the area can take you there by canoe. Accommodation can be arranged in Albina. The town is 125 km southeast of Paramaribo. Albina has frequent ferry connections with Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana.
