Amlapura
The main attraction in the town of Amlapura is its water palace. The decaying relic is a reminder of the power of the Balinese rajahs. Amlapura's water palace is surrounded by countless terraced rice paddies.
Acommodation is available in town, but most people only come here, when visiting the nearby town of Tenganan. Amlapura was originally named Karangasem, but after the eruption of nearby Mount Agung, most of the city had to be rebuilt and its name was changed as well.
