Ar Kaweit (أركويت)
Ar Kaweit is sometimes spelled as Arkawit, or Erkowit. It used to be a retreat for the British, because of its altitude and resulting refreshing climate in the beautiful Red Sea Hills. Few of the original town remains, but it is a good place to cool down after the heat of the lowland.
Accommodation is available in town. Erkowit is 590 km northeast of Khartoum and 40 km (25 mi) from the Red Sea.
Because of civil war it is not recommended to travel to Ar Kaweit (أركويت), or any other destination in Sudan at this moment.
