Auburn (Alabama)

Auburn was first settled in the 1830s. Nowadays, it is the largest city in eastern Alabama. Its economy is centered on Auburn University. There is some manufacturing in town.

The Jule Museum is located at Auburn University. The museum was named after Jule Collins Smith, who was the wife of Albert Smith. Smith graduated from Auburn University in 1947 and donated the funds for the construction of the art museum. The museum was established in 2003 and admission is free.

Auburn is home to various nice parks, including:

Chewacla State Park is home to Chewacla Falls.
The Donald E. Davis Arboretum is a native plants museum and botanical arboretum. It includes 500 different plant species, as well as walking trails.
Kiesel Park features numerous walking trails.
The Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve was established in 1993.

There are several hotels and restaurants in Auburn. The city is 80 km northeast from Montgomery and 1,050 km southwest from Washington D.C..
