Boali Waterfalls (Chûtes de Boali)
The Boali Waterfalls (les Chûtes de Boali) are impressive in the rainy season, but during the dry part of the year they are just a muddy stream. The Chinese built a massive dam upriver that controls the water-flow. Normally every Sunday the intake is turned of, so tourists can see the falls in their full glory.
You can get as close as 5 km from the falls by car, but the last part has to be done on foot. There is a hotel near the waterfalls, including a restaurant. The Boali Waterfalls are about 70 km northwest of the capital Bangui. They are some 250 m wide and 50 m high during the rainy season.
