Bouar

Bouar

Bouar is a market town, some 375 km northwest of Bangui, on the road to the Cameroon border.

In the surrounding area there are numerous megalithic stone monuments. Be very careful at night, as locals can be hostile.

There is some accommodation available near the bus station. Food can be bought from food stalls in the market. Most of those stalls don't appear before dusk though. The town's name comes from the Gbaya word for bean, which is 'hbouar'.
