Caspian Sea (Каспийское море, دریای کاسپین/ کاسپی دریا)
The Caspian Sea is an endorheic basin, i.e. a body of water that has no outflow of water. It is the world's largest inland body of water and measures 371,000 km² (143,000 sq mi). Its surface sits 27 m (89 ft) below sea level. It is sometimes referred to as a 'sea' and sometimes as a 'lake'.
The Caspian Sea is bounded by Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.
The Caspian Sea is home to a wide variety of aquatic species.
Not far from Derbent in Dagestan a beached Lun-class ekranoplan ground effect vehicle can be seen.
