Chongqing is a large city on the Yangzi River in the Sichuan province. It was China's provisional capital during the years of the Sino-Japanese war from 1937 to 1945 and as a reslut there are several WWII-related sites in town:

Other attraction in Chongqing include its zoo that is home to several rare species such as the giant panda, the rare South China tiger and the African elephant. Chongqing Amusement Park and Chongqing Grand Theater are also worth a visit.

Chongqing is a good place to stay if you want to visit the hot springs that are found both northeast and south of town. To the north is the Three Gorges Dam.
