Clervaux (Clierf)

Clervaux, or Clierf, is a very touristy place. There is a feudal Château de Clervaux (castle) in the center of town, where you can see photographic exhibitions, such as Edward Steichen's Family of Man collection. The town saw heavy fighting during the WWII and the Battle of the Bulge Museum

is housed inside the castle. The museum exhibits American, German and Luxembourgish artefacts from WWII, as well as scale models of the country's castles.

In the forest high above town, is a picturesque Benedictine Abbey of St. Maurice and St. Maur with numerous turrets.

The parish church was built in the Rheinisch-Romanesque style from 1910 to 1912. There is also an 18th-century chapel in Clervaux.

There are many hotels and restaurants in Clervaux. The town is in the Luxembourg Ardennes, 50 km north from the city of Luxembourg. Clervaux has train connections with the capital.
