Cuyo
The Cuyo region covers the Andean provinces of Mendoza and San Juan, as well as San Luis. The area, where numerous wineries are situated, is influenced by neighboring Chile in culture and mestizo population.
Most people come to the region for mountaineering and trekking in the nearby Andes Mountains. The cities of San Juan and Mendoza are the region's major population centers.
The landscape is mostly arid and reddish and there are only a few glacial rivers. Most people earn a living in tourism and agriculture; mainly wine production. Quarrying and oil exploitation are other important industries.
