Deeg
Deeg (or Dig) is a small city with huge fortifications and the beautiful palace of Gopal Bhavan. The fortifications were built in 1730. Deeg boasts many other forts and palaces. There are also many beautiful gardens and fountains in the city. Deeg used to be the second capital of the Bharatpur state and was the place where the maharaja's forces once withstood an 80,000 men strong army of combined Moghul and Maratha warriors.
There are some hotels and restaurants in town, as well as a colorful market. Deeg is 135 km south of Delhi.
