Dunedin



Dunedin is the largest city in the southern part of New Zealand's South Island. It has a Scottish heritage and it is an important student city. The city also has a large Chinese population. It is the area's major artistic and cultural center. There are numerous museums, art galleries and castles in the city and the surrounding area has beautiful valleys and hills.

There are countless interesting sites in Dunedin, some of which include: Dunedin Railway Station, Dunedin Town Hall, Larnach Castle, Cargill's Castle, Olveston, Speight's Brewery, University of Otago Registry Building, University of Otago Clocktower complex, Regent Theatre, Fortune Theatre, Dunedin Hospital, the Octagon, Orokonui Ecosanctuary, Royal Albatross Centre, St. Clair Beach and Forsyth Barr Stadium. There are several nice parks in Dunedin, including the Botanic Garden, Dunedin Chinese Garden and Woodhaugh Gardens.

Dunedin has many hotels and restaurants. The city is 620 km southwest of Wellington. It is a good place to stay if you want to explore The Catlins.
