Dvin (Դվին)
Dvin is a large city, not far from the site of the medieval Armenian capital of Dvin, which was founded around 340 AD. The ancient city was also known as Duin (Դուին), Doúbios (Δούβιος), Tíbion (Τίβιον) and Dabīl, or Doubil (دبيل). Dvin is not far north from Artaxata, which was the previous ancient capital of Armenia.
The extensive ruins at the site have been under excavation since 1937 and there is a small museum where you can see numerous archaeological finds. The site itself is not much more than a large hill.
At the center of the site are the remains of the Dvin is located along the banks of the Metsamor River, 35 km south of Yerevan.
