Dzaoudzi

Dzaoudzi

Dzaoudzi town lies on the little islet of Dzaoudzi, which is connected to Petit Terre by a highway. It was Mayotte's capital up until 1977, when it was relocated to Mamoudzou. Dzaoudzi is one of the few towns in Mayotte that has an old labyrinthine Arab quarter with many narrow winding streets. It is well worth exploring. Dzaoudzi forms a twin town with Labattoir. Mayotte's international airport is located near Dzaoudzi.
