Elba Island


Elba is an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea, 10 km (6.2 mi) off the coast from the town of Piombino. It is the largest island of the Tuscan archipelago. Elba is also included in the Arcipelago Toscano National Park.

The island is famous for the fact that Napoleon was exiled there from 1814 to 1815.

There are several places of interest throughout the island. They include Fort Stella. Elba has numerous nice beaches, as well as many hiking trails and biking tracks.

The main towns on Elba are Marina di Campo, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro and Portoferraio. Elba is geared towards tourism and there are countless hotels, hostels and other forms of accommodation on the island, as well as many restaurants, cafés and bars. Elba is 205 km northwest of Rome.
