Ermera
Ermera is an old hill station and it's climate is nice and refreshing after staying in Dili, or some other lower-lying place. The area around Ermera is renowned for its coffee plantations. The town itself boasts a lovely whitewashed church, but otherwise there is little of interest, as most of it was severely damaged during the struggle for independence in 1999. Ermera is a good place to stay if you want to explore the surrounding mountains, including East Timor's highest peak, Gunung Tatamailau, which is 2,963 m high and lies 20 km southeast of town.
There are some hotels and restaurants in Ermera. The town is 30 km southwest of Dili.
