Fiesole is a beautiful city in the valleys between the Arno and Mugnone rivers, 8 km north of Florence. Fiesole offers fantastic views over Florence. Fiesole was shaped by a past that included Etruscan, Roman and Renaissance influences and still has structures dating from these periods.

Interesting places in the city include the duomo, a great art museum and Etruscan and Roman ruins. These ruins include Remnants of Etruscan walls, Roman baths and a Roman theatre.

The Episcopal Palace was built in 996 and expanded during medieval times. Other interesting sites include the Church of S. Alessandro, the Monastery of San Francesco, the Church of San Girolamo, San Domenico and the villa of Fontanelle amongst others.

There are numerous interesting, winding streets in Fiesole. Most people visit Fiesole to get away from the bustle of Florence.

There are numerous hotels and restaurants in Fiesole. The city is 240 km northwest of Rome.
