Fulufjällets nationalpark is a national park in the center of Sweden. It was established in 2002 and it got its name from the mountain of Fulufjället, which is part of the Fulufjället massif. The mountains continue into Norway and are part of that country's Fulufjellet National Park. The Fulufj/auml;llet massif is a high plateau from which several smaller rivers feed into the Dalälven River. Some of them feed the 100 m (328 feet) tall Njupeskär waterfall.
Most of the park's mountains are barren, but the valleys are covered in lush pine forests. The absense of grazing animals have led to a unique flora of brush, grass and lichens. One of the world's oldest trees can also be found there. It is nicknamed 'Old Tjikko' and it was determined to be almost 10,000 years old through carbon dating techniques. Fulufjället National Park is home to several bird species, of which the bold Siberian jay is its symbol. You might also see brown bears and Eurasian lynx in Fulufjället.
