Głogówek

Głogówek

Głogówek is a well-preserved, small town in southern Poland. It has a medieval town square, including a beautiful church and several historic houses. The town is popular with pilgrims, as a replica Italian shrine holds a black Virgin Mary.

The name Głogówek derives from the word 'głog', which means hawthorn. These plants were abundant in the area during the 11th century, the time when the town was founded.

Głogówek has train connections with the rest of Poland. Accommodation is available in town. Głogówek is located on the Osobloga River, 300 km southwest of Warsaw, not far from the border with the Czech Republic.
