Gia Lai province is located in the mountainous region of the north of Vietnam's Central Highlands. The region's average elevation is 600 - 800 m.
Gai Lai has a long history and an ancient culture, which can be seen through its communal houses, stilt houses, funeral houses, traditional festivals, costumes and musical instruments. There are many lakes, streams, waterfalls, mountain passes and primeval forests in the province. Especially popular are the tropical forests of Kon Ka Kinh and Kon Cha Rang.
The waterfalls of Xung Khoeng and Phu Cuong are also well worth a visit. Other places of interest include White Rock Creek, Dream Spring, Mong ferry on Pa river and Pleiku Lake on Ham Rong Mountain. The mountain is an inactive volcano with a height of 1,092 m.
