Gran Chaco
The Gran Chaco is a large area of hot and semiarid flat plains in the north of Paraguay. The region is home to a large Indian population and there is only one paved highway, the Ruta Trans-Chaco. This road leads to Mennonite places such as Filadelfia, Loma Plata and Neuland.
The Defensores del Chaco National Park is also in the region.
