Hajo

According to some Buddhists, Hajo is the town where Buddha attained nirvana. It is and important place of pilgrimage for both Buddhas and Muslims. The historic town is surrounded by scenic hills.
Hajo features numerous temples, monuments and archaeological sites.
There are several hotels and restaurants in town. Hajo is only 24 km northwest of Gauhati (Gawahati), and 1415 km east of Delhi, on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River.
