Hyderabad (Pakistan) (ملتان)

Hyderabad was historically known as Neroonkot, meaning 'the place where Neroon came from'. Neroon was a local ruler. The city was founded in 1768 and it served as the provincial capital until 1840, after which he British transferred the capital to Bombay Presidency.

Hyderabad tranliterates as Lion City, with haydar meaning 'lion' and ābād meaning 'settlement'. Hyderabad was named after Ali, who was the 4th caliph and cousin of Muhammad, with the 'lion' part referring to his valour in battle.

Most traditional buildings in Hyderabat were constructed with mud bricks. This way of building kept the structure cool in summer and warm in winter. Homes that were built later, during British rule, usually feature balconies and decorative columns. They have large windows for ventilation.
