Ifẹ (Ile-Ife)
The city of Ifẹ̀ (often referred to as Ilé-Ifẹ̀) is the spiritual center of the Yoruba people. Their highest figure of authority, the Oba of Ifa, lives there. His palace is known as Oba's Palace, but it is closed to foreigners. The Antiquities Museum is nearby. It has a collection of bronze masks and terracotta items. More terracotta can be seen in the Yemoo Pottery Museum. There are also several temples and shrines in Ifẹ̀.
There are several hotels and restaurants in town. Ifẹ̀ is 170 km northeast of Lagos, 350 km southwest of Abuja.
