Ikom is the last town in Nigeria when travelling from Enugu to Cameroon. Not far from Ikom are the beautiful Aboukim Falls. There are many colonial buildings in Ikom. About 4 km from town is Ikom beach.

The Afi monoliths that bear ancient writing, which is thought to be an ancient form of the Nsibidi language. More carved monoliths can be seen at Alok and Nkarasi. These are the same kind of monoliths as the ones found in Nta-Nsellei Akaju, Abanyou and Nde. The were made from basalt or limestone. The monoliths have faces carved in them and are set in circles at groves, where annual festivals to celebrate the end of the dry season are held. Also not far from town is the scenic Agbokim waterfall.

Most people in Ikom earn their living in agriculture. The area around Ikom is filled with cocoa and banana plantations.

There are a few places where you can stay, as well as some restaurants in town. Ikom is 400 km southeast of Abuja, 600 km east of Lagos, close to the border with Cameroon.
