Inuvik

Inuvik is the only town in the Inuvik Region. It is not far from the Mackenzie River, only about 300 km across the border from Alaska. It is the place where the annual Arctic Northern Games are usually held. The Arctic Northern Games include traditional Dene and Inuit sports, contests, dancing, music and crafts. Another interesting contest is that of the 'Good Woman'. The winner is the lady who is best in skills such as animal skinning.

Some places of interest in Inuvik include Our Lady of Victory Church, which is often referred to as Igloo Church. The Midnight Sun Mosque is North America's northernmost mosque. It was constructed in Winnipeg and moved to Inuvik by truck.

There are several hotels and restaurants in Inuvik. The town is 4065 km northwest of Ottawa.
