Isore
Isora is a cheese producing village on the island of El Hierro. It lies 8 km south of Valverde, not far from the coast. It is very interesting to see how the cheeses are made and they can be purchased there as well.
Some interesting sites include:
- Mirador de Isora, not far from town is a viewing point that offers good views of the escarpment of the Las Playas, the roque de Bonanza and the rest of the bay.
- Centro de Interpretación de la Reserva de La Biosfera is a educational museum, housed in a former casino. It shows the reasons El Hierro was declared a world biosphere reserve.
- Monumento Natural de Los Roques de Aregando is in the northeast of town. It is an important geological site, as it is the oldest part of El Hierro.
- Fuente de Isora is a historic fountain, which was the source for the developement of the area.
- Cueva del Agua is a volcanic tube that houses important archaeological site.
