Jasper

Jasper is a town in the Canadian Rockies of western Alberta. It sits in the Athabasca River valley and it is the commercial centre of Jasper National Park.

There are several places of interest in Jasper, including the heritage sites of Jasper Visitor Centre, Saint Mary and Saint George Anglican Church and the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives.

There is a wide variety of accommodation in Jasper, such as the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and the Marmot Basin ski resort. There are also many restaurants in town. The Jasper Skytram

carries visitors to the summit of The Whistlers, a 2,470 m (8,100 ft) high mountain summit not far from Jasper.

During the summer of 2024, large parts of the forests around Jasper were burnt by a wildfire. On 22 July the town was evacuated and later about a third of the town was destroyed by the fires.
