Jeffrey's Bay is a tourist resort on the Indian Ocean, 60 km southwest of Gqeberha and 985 km southwest of Pretoria. It is often referred to as J-bay. There is little of interest to travellers, but the waves are great for surfing.
The beaches around Jeffrey's Bay have an abundance of seeshells. Not far from Jeffrey's Bay are the lagoons of Kabeljous, Seekoei and Krom River. They are home to numerous water birds and popular for water sports such as canoeing, boardsailing and fishing. Migrating whales can be seen every year in the bay. On the kabeljous River, northeast from town, is the Kabeljous Nature Reserve, which is popular with anglers. The Seekoei River Nature Reserve is also nearby. It is home to countless bird species and good for hiking.
The restaurants in Jeffrey's Bay are famous for their seafood and calamari. Accommodation is widely available in town.
