Jimeta
Jimeta is beautifully located on the banks of the Benue River. It is the last Nigerian town of any size that you'll get to when travelling to Garoua in Cameroon. The nearby town of Yola is also quite interesting. Between 1935 and 1955 the two town were unified as one town and some people still refer to them as 'Jimeta-Yola'.
There is a bustling market in Jimeta, as well as a mosque with striking yellow domes. Trips on the Benue River can be arranged in town.
There are several hotels and restaurants in Jimeta. The town is 1050 km northeast of Lagos, 580 km east of Abuja.
Jimeta cam in the news in 2012, when severe flooding hit the city.
