There is very little of interest to travellers in Juba, capital of both South Sudan and Equatoria province. The city was founded in 1921 on the site of the small Bari village of Juba. There are plans to move the capital to Ramciel.
There are several churches and temples in Juba. Some of the congregations include the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Juba, the Province of the Episcopal Church, the Baptist Convention and the Presbyterian Church.
There is some accommodation, as well as several restaurants, but the tap water in town comes directly from the Nile River and is not filtered, so don't drink it. Juba is on the White Nile, some 1100 km south from Khartoum in Sudan, not far from the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
