Kenner is a suburb of New Orleans. Since the 1970's, Kenner has grown rapidly into an area of moderate- to upper-income family housing developments in the New Orleans metropolitan region. Kenner has commercial activities, retail businesses and some light manufacturing. New Orleans International Airport is within the city limits and a racetrack is nearby.

Kenner's historic district is called Rivertown. It is home to museums, shops and cultural resources. Rivertown Repertory Theatre, Kenner Heritage Park, Kenner Planetarium and Rivertown Science Center are al located in Rivertown. Laketown is a park that includes a boat launch, piers, pavilions, a jogging/biking path and a concession stand and bait house. Coconut Beach Volleyball Complex is a sand volleyball complex. The A.J. Muss Bertolino Playground is a high school stadium with a running track and gymnasium. Kenner also boasts the Chateau Golf and Country Club, as well as a casino.
