Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale Forest National Park

The Kibale Forest National Park is about 30 km (19 miles) to the southeast of Fort Portal. There are many primates and chimpanzees in the park, but you will also be able to see baboons, buffalo, bushbucks, civets, duikers, elephants, red and white colobus monkeys and sitatungas.

The park was established in 1993 to protect the area's moist evergreen rainforest. Kibale Forest National Park is adjacent to Queen Elizabeth National Park and together the parks form a 180 km (110 mi) long wildlife corridor.

The Makerere University Biological Field Station is located in the park.
