Lampedusa is the largest island of the Italian Pelagie Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. It covers about 20.2 km². Together with the nearby islands of Linosa and Lampione it forms the comune of Lampedusa e Linosa which belongs to Italy's province of Agrigento. Lampedusa is only 113 km from the Tunisian coast.

The island has excellent beaches. La porta dell'Europa (door to Europe) is a monument on Lampedusa. The main town on the island is called Lampedusa.

There are numerous hotels and restaurants on the island. It has ferry connections with Sicily, as well as flights. During the summer, there are additional flights to Rome and Milan.
