Lifau


Lifau is a small town, 7 km west of Pante Makasar in East Timor's Oecusse Province.

It was the site of the first Portuguese settlement on Timor, although later the Portuguese built a permanent settlement at Pante Makasar. There is a monument to the colonists' first landing.

Accommodation is available in Lifau. The town is 160 km west of Dili, not far from the mouth of the Tono River.
