Linden (New Jersey)
Linden was named for the many linden trees in its vicinity. The city was part of Elizabeth until 1861. During the first half of the 20th century, Linden changed from an agricultural district to a city of diverse manufactures, including chemicals, petroleum products, plastics, advertising signs and transportation equipment.
Parks
- Hawk Rise Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary on the banks of the Rahway River at the lower reaches of the Rahway River Parkway.
- John Russell Wheeler Park features the Linden Skatepark for skateboarders. It is located at Winans Avenue and West Edgar Road, not far from where Morses Creek winds through the park. It was opened in 2019 and replaced a pool that was originally built in 1931.
- Peach Orchard Park is located at Dill Avenue, Hussa Street and Cranford Avenue, behind School #4. The Peach Orchard Brook, a tributary of Morses Creek, runs through the park.
- Warinanco Park is adjacent to Park Drive, which connects it with Linden.
Accommodation and restaurants are available in town. Linden is in the New York metropolitan area in the northeast of New Jersey, 60 km northeast of Trenton and 310 km northeast of Washington D.C.
