Madidi National Park was established in 1996 in Bolivia's upper Amazon river basin. Together with the nearby Manuripi-Heath and Apolobamba parks, as well as the Manu Biosphere Reserve in Peru, it forms the one of the largest protected areas in the world. it is also the world's most biologically diverse national park.

Madidi National Park can be accessed via ferry from Rurrenabaque. Accommodation can be found in the form of eco-lodges.
