Mahikeng
Mahikeng is in Bophuthatswana, in the North-West province, 250 km west of Pretoria. It was originally called Mafeking, which was changed to Mafikeng upon its incorporation into Bophuthatswana in 1980. In 2010 it got its current name of Mahikeng. The only interesting thing about Mahikeng is that Baden Powell invented the concept of the boy scouts there, when he was under siege by the Boers, during the Boer War. There is nothing to see town.
There is a campsite in Mahikeng. About 14 km (9 miles) south of Mahikeng are the Madibi goldfields. Also in the vicinity of the city are the games reserves of Mafikeng and Botsalano.
