Makeni

Makeni is a good place to buy craftwork such as gara (tie-dyed or batik fabric), lappa (gown) and coiled baskets known as shukublys. There is an interesting mosque in the center of town.

There are some hotels and restaurants in Makeni. The town is 140 km northeast of Freetown.
