Man is 260 km west of Yamoussoukro. Although the city doesn't have any special sights, the surrounding area of forested mountains is spectacularly beautiful. The Dan people came to this area in the 14th century and their culture is preserved quite well up to now. Each village in the area has its own distinctive masks used in rituals. Many people visit the area for the annual Fêtes des Masques (Festival of Masks), when Yacouba stilt dancers perform their dances.
Apart from the market and the Cathédrale Saint-Michel there is little to see in Man, but it is a good place to stay when visiting other towns in the region. 5 km (3 miles) west of town is a small bamboo forest with a waterfall known as La Cascade. There is a wonderful liana bridge beneath the falls. Mt Tonkoui, the second highest peak in Côte d'Ivoire is 15 km (9 miles) to the north of the waterfall. You can climb to the top for stunning views. Another mountain that is often visited is La Dent, 12 km northeast of Man. It is a tooth-shaped rock formation that provides good views over the area as well. It takes about 2 hours to get to the top but you will need a guide.
There are many interesting villages in the area such as Biankouma, Gouéssésso, Sipitou and Danané.
Accommodation is widely available and so are restaurants and food bars. Man has 3 gares routière, one for express buses to Abidjan; another for taxis to Abidjan and a third one for traffic to Danané. There are several flights a week between Man and Abidjan as well.
