Marangu

The town of Marangu is a good place to base yourself if you want to visit Mount Kilimanjaro National Park and climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Marangu is an attractive place and the atmosphere is alpine-like. A small stream flows through the town's center and divides it into Marangu West and Marangu East. There are several shops where you can get supplies, but many people prefer to stay in Moshi, which has a wider range of shops and facilities.

Not far from town is the small but scenic Marangu waterfall.

There are several hotels in Marangu, as well as restaurants. Marangu is 440 km northwest of Dar es Salaam, close to the border with Kenya.
