Matondoni

Matondoni is within walking distance of Lamu, some 240 km northeast of Mombasa. To walk there from Lamu, just follow the telephone wires, as they run between the two towns. You can also take a dhow from Lamu. In Matondoni accommodation is scarce, but there are several places serving food and drinks. There is a Donkey Sanctuary on the waterfront, where worn-out and sick donkeys are treated.
