The Mavuradonha Wilderness Reserve was created in 1988. The park covers a 500 km² (200 sq mi), rugged, mountainous area of the Mavuradonha Range (formerly Mvuradona), above the Zambezi Escarpment. The area is excellent for hiking, with or without guide. The highest point is Banirembizi beacon, which is 1613 m high.
Animals that roam the area include antelope, zebra, baboons, elephants, leopards and lions, as well as numerous bird species. The park's headquarters is near the town of Muzarabani. Accommodation is available there. Camping and chalets are available at a site on the main road through the area.
