There is little of interest in Mbala, but about three kilometers from town is the Moto Moto Museum. The collection of Bemba tribe artifacts was put together by Father Corbell during his 40 years in Zambia. Nowadays the Zambian government owns the items.

The Kalambo Falls are the second highest in Africa. They drop some 212 meters straight down. The falls are a forty-kilometer hike from Mbala. There are several hotels and restaurants in town. Mbala is 865 km northeast of Lusaka. The town used to be calledAbercorn during British colonial rule.
