Meru

Meru is the place to stay when you want to ascend Mount Kenya via the Chogoria trail. There is not much of any interest in town apart from the small museum. It has an interesting exhibition on the Meru people. Meru is the main service town for the cultivated area northeast of Mount Kenya, on the Kathita River, about 175 km northeast of Nairobi.

There are many places where you can stay and they serve food as well. Minibuses run between Meru and several other towns in the region.
