The Mkhambathi Nature Reserve is also spelled as Mkambati Nature Reserve. It straddles the Wild Coast at Lusikisiki in South Africa's Eastern Cape province. The region that was formerly known as Transkei. The reserve includes the Misikaba River Gorge. The scenery in the park is fantastic. A great experience is to rent a canoe and peddle up the river.
Mkhambathi Nature Reserve covers 7,720 hectares (19,100 acres) of grassland, with some patches of indigenous forest and swamp forests. The reserve is bounded by the Msikaba and Mtentu rivers. It is home to a variety of mammals and birds. The Mkhambathi Falls are located within the reserve. Offshore is the Pondoland Marine Protected Area.
You can get to the park from Flagstaff, 80 km northeast of Umtata. Umtata is also the town where all the arrangements concerning the Mkhambathi Nature Reserve can be made.
