Moala Island

Moala is a volcanic island in Fiji's Lau Archipelago. There are 8 towns on the island. The main town is Naroi. Most people make a living from coconut farming, cocoa production, fishing and the production of yaqona (kava).

Moala covers 62.5 km² (24.1 sq mi) of lush vegetation and thick forest. Its highest point is Delaimoala, which rises to 468 m (1,535 ft) above sea-level.

The Uciwai Bay is connected to the ocean via a narrow channel. The bay suffers from pollution, as the expulsion of material through the channel in combination with currents, is restricted.

The island is surrounded by a reef that is excellent for scuba-diving and snorkeling. Moala is about 160 km woutheast of Suva.
